Mrs Quinton's incredible family fundraiser in aid of Launchpad

Congratulations to our Languages teacher, Mrs Quinton and her family for raising over £800 for Launchpad, a Reading-based homeless charity.

Congratulations to our Languages teacher, Mrs Quinton and her family for raising over £800 for Launchpad, a Reading-based homeless charity.

Mrs Quinton, her husband and two daughters decided to brave the outdoors on World Homeless Day and slept on their front doorstep for a night in aid of Launchpad’s much-loved annual event, the Big Sleep Out. They swapped their comfortable beds for makeshift mattresses made out of flattened cardboard boxes and sleeping bags, to get a brief insight into some of the conditions experienced by those sleeping rough.

“It brought home how difficult it is for homeless people who don’t have a nice warm house to spend the day in. A lot of our neighbours were glad not to be doing it themselves, but were very generous with their donations.”

With an initial target of £250, the Quinton family have far surpassed their expectations, raising an incredible £835 (so far!) for Launchpad, Reading’s leading homelessness prevention charity. Their fundraising page is still live if you would like to donate: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/joanne-quinton

Our Year 11s also participated in Launchpad’s Big Sleep Out, raising over £1000.
