Pupils and teachers were treated to an array of European themed activities in honour of cultural and linguistic diversity.

Our Language Prefects, Lorcan and Olivia worked hard to help make this a success, including creating an entertaining video which was shown to Lower Senior and Sixth Form during form time explaining the importance of celebrating our differences.

Throughout the day, there were a number of quizzes to take part in, including an all school Kahoot quiz and a bonus fact-based quiz in the library.

During the day, Year 6, 7 and 8 pupils enjoyed an interactive theatrical workshop in French from the Freshwater Theatre Company of ‘The Three Musketeers,’ where they got to practise their acting and language skills.

At lunch, a very European spread was provided in the dining hall, with favourites such as coq au vin, Greek salad and crème brûlée on the menu.

It was standing room only during lunch break as the Prefects then hosted a very popular continental cheese tasting and French sweet shop experience in the Food Tech room. A European themed quiz encouraged pupils to test their knowledge of European facts and they were rewarded with sweets for their correct answers.

Finally, for those who could drag themselves away from the fun in the Food Tech room, a Spanish “Cinema and Popcorn” event offered a screening of “Coco” to Year 7 and up.

Olivia commented “The turnout was amazing and really encouraging to see our younger students get involved with the cuisine of Europe. Through fun quizzes and activities, we hope to have broadened their minds on European culture and the enjoyment in learning languages!”

Merci beaucoup to all the teaching staff, caterers (Thomas Franks) and pupils who worked so hard to make this day such a brilliant success!
