What's happening at St Joseph's? |
Since leaving St Joseph’s, Emily has completed two years at the University of Birmingham and is currently on her year abroad, studying at the University of Copenhagen. Emily didn’t expect to have her year abroad due to COVID, but she stuck with it, and to her delight, it all worked out in the end with Erasmus funding too!
Emily is loving life and her studies.
While the geopolitics of migration and refugees is still an interest, Emily is now much more interested in environmental issues. Her passion for this has seen her recently attending the historic COP26 in Glasgow as part of the CAFOD delegation.
Whilst there, she followed the progress of the negotiations including attending an all-party parliamentary group event and taking part in the Global Day of Action. Her experiences inspired her to write a rousing poem about Climate Action
Prior to this, she recently completed a 12 week virtual internship with the government of Fiji working on an awareness campaign linked to the relocation of citizens due to the impact of climate change; soon she is heading off to Stockholm in the hope of hearing Greta speak at a School Strike for Climate/ Fridays for Future event.
During the pandemic Emily also completed a multidisciplinary project with Transport West Midlands to promote electric car ownership.
Emily has organised all these things herself and her parents are forever grateful to St Joseph’s for helping to install a “can do” attitude in their daughter.
It's been lovely to hear from Emily since leaving the College and we wish her well in all that she is doing. You are a true inspiration!
We would love to hear more about our former students and all what you are doing. Please get in touch. Please email: alumni@sjcr.org.uk
